The brother and sister team of Louis and Claude Desvignes has been producing some of the best wines in Beaujolais for the better part of the last decade. All of the family’s 14 hectares of organically farmed vines are in their home village of Morgon, spread across four different climats. All whole clusters are used here (the entry-level La Voute Saint-Vincent has a bit of de-stemmed fruit) and the wines are made semi-carbonically, with native yeasts and raised in concrete vats. Bottling takes place with no fining and no filtration. The 2019s here are standouts for the vintage, showing energy as well as concentration and fine balance. They’re delicious now, but my experience tells me that they are destined to live long with graceful aging.
