Proprietors Matt Licklider and Kevin O'Connor have done a fabulous job with these new releases. In particular, I am a huge fan of the budget-priced wines in this range, as we all need daily drinkers. Two of these wines from Lioco fit that bill and do it with unusual elegance.

New winemaker John Raytek told me that the one minor tweak he has implemented so far here is the introduction of some older casks into the aging regimen of selected wines "to add more middle and general texture" but "without imposing any actual wood character."Owners Kevin O'Connor and Matt Licklider told me that they're completely on board with this and see it as part of the natural and inevitable evolution of LIOCO but hasted to say that "you're never going to see oaky wines from us, that's for sure."This project has quickly gained popularity among sommeliers across the country who are drawn to the wines' bright fruit profiles and general lack of adornment, and the prices are quite friendly for the quality delivered, especially at the entry level.
