This is a gorgeous set of wines from Kistler. The 2019 Chardonnays show the pedigree of the vintage in their nuance, character and site expression. As good as the Chardonnays are, the Pinots might be even more impressive, as the year was generally far less favorable for Pinot. Winemaker Jason Kesner describes 2019 as a year that was pretty similar to 2018, with the exception of warmer nights at the very end of the season. That ultimately led to a harvest that was a day or two earlier than 2018. Yields were on the generous side, as they were in 2018.
