Peter Geiben says he kept wishing that it would warm up a bit more during the sunny days of October '97, giving the extra measure of concentration he experienced in '89 and '90. But the foliage remained green, and sugars were eventually built up by late photosynthesis as opposed to any loss of water from the berries. His '97 collection is clear and well-concentrated, including several dryer wines not being shipped Stateside. (Terry Theise)
