Jean Meyer had started harvesting a full week prior to my visit on September 24. "With organic viticulture, you can forget the calendar of the other growers," he told me, adding that he began picking in 2007 on September 2, and made all his wines without adding sugar or commercial yeasts. "And with bio, all the acids seem to be going up, or at least the wines give the impression of brighter acidity even if the technical numbers are the same." (Terlato Wines International, Lake Bluff, IL) Also recommended: 2007 Pinot Mise du Printemps (85), 2007 Pinot Blanc (86), 2006 Riesling Le Dragon (86), 2006 Gri GriS (86). Other wines tasted: 2007 Sylvaner.
