I tasted this year with Jean Meyer son-in-law Christophe Ehrhart, who is responsible for managing the estate's vineyards.Despite the fact that the estate eliminated some fruit during the summer, Ehrhart told me, there was some dilution in '98—and a loss of about one percent of potential alcohol due to the rains of early September.Yields here are rather high for the basic wines (some of the lesser cuvées here lack extract and flavor intensity), but were in the 55 hectoliters-per-hectare range for the grand crus in both '98 and '97, according to Ehrhart.Josmeyer controls 23 hectares, but buys fruit from 10 more.
