Once again, I was quite taken with the JCR Pinots. In 2015, the wines aren't as differentiated from each other as they can be, but that is mostly a function of a year with tiny yields in which the personality of the vintage is a significant stylistic marker. Even so, there is no denying the wines are incredibly attractive. A healthy amount of whole clusters, minimal racking and relatively long aging by California standards are some of the signatures winemaker Alison Thompson favors.
