These 2018 Cabernets are easily the best wines I have ever tasted from Mark Herold. I don’t think it is a coincidence that 2018 is the first year Herold stopped making his range of more eccentric wines to focus on the Cabernets. Over the last few years Herold has started picking just a bit earlier. The wines still have plenty of the flamboyance readers have come to expect, but now they also have an extra touch of energy that is so complementary. I was blown away.
