Mark Herold has redesigned his Cabernet Sauvignon lineup, which now includes six different bottlings. The Uproar remains the entry-level wine. The Brown Label Cabernet is the wine that was formerly sold as Herold, while the White Label Cabernet is the wine formerly sold as Herold by Mark Herold. Those wines are joined by new bottlings from Coombsville and Stagecoach, plus the appropriately named Mastodon, a barrel selection bottled only in magnum. Many of the fruit source are the same as those Herold worked with at Joseph Phelps and Merus. The style of the wines remains unchanged, which is to say these are some of the most opulent, intense, racy Napa Valley Cabernets readers will come across.
