Giorgio Pelissero’s Barbarescos are usually quite showy, but the 2019s are decidedly reticent. Pelissero is among the producers who cite the unique challenges of aging these wines during the COVID-19 pandemic as yet another obstacle growers had to overcome. My favorite wine in the range is the Nubiola, which is always presented first in tastings, as it seems to have the best balance of three Barbarescos at this stage.
