Folded Hills is going through a period of transition. Founding winemaker Angela Osborne is back at the helm. This year, the estate chose to present wines made by Osborne during her first tenure as opposed to more recent vintages. It’s an unusual choice, but it provided an opportunity to see how these wines show with a few years of bottle age. At Folded Hills, Osborne makes wines that are expressive and transparent, with perhaps just a bit more richness and ripeness than she favors for her own label. It’s a style that is quite successful at this estate

Folded Hills appears to be in a state of transition at the moment, but hopefully winemaker Michael Brughelli can steady the ship. Some of the 2019s are a bit weak, but more recent wines I have tasted show more of the potential I sensed in the early days here.
