I found a lot to like in these new releases from Flowers. To be sure, the estate has been through a series of ups and downs in recent years, so it is great to see wines that capture the pedigree of this coastal site (readers should note that the appellation wines are made from purchased fruit). Proprietor Augustin Huneeus brought on Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Dujac as a consultant to work alongside winemaker Chantal Forthun starting with the 2016 vintage. It is hard to really know how much of an impact a consultant makes or doesn't make during a few visits a year, but there is no question these wines show more focus, depth and consistency than in the recent past, and that is obviously terrific news.
