Looked at in terms of wine quality, "2011 turned out to be a very nice vintage, but that was only after an incredible amount of work and sacrifice," Isabel Ferrando said wryly. There were a lot of grapes, she said "but many of them weren't physiologically mature so they had to go."Ferrando thinks that 2011 is a good deal better than the other "little years," meaning '08, '06 and '04, and that the wines will be "delicious to drink now and over the next ten years."The polar opposite is the case with the 2010s, in her opinion."The wines have already moved into their closed stage, in many cases, and will be there for a while.Maybe not so much as has happened with 2005, but still shut down."
