Bernard Mollard remarked that 2001 is a "millesime de plaisir with very forward, upfront fruit and flavors. However, it will age better than people think as there is good underlying acidity despite the ripeness. Yields were about the same as in 2000 but we had slightly higher sugars because I decided to wait an extra week before beginning the harvest." The wines were bottled in August and September and some were fined and filtered and others were only filtered.

Bernard Mollard believes that his 2001 white wines show greater ripeness and better balance than the 2000s, with more vibrancy and amplitude. The wines give the impression of having more acidity even if the actual numbers are the same," he explained. The 2001s taste fresher than the 2000s." Grape sugars in the premier crus were in the 12.7%-13% range, according to Mollard, and 13.8% in the Batard.
