Gerin is one of many Côte-Rôtie specialists who, despite being highly regarded for his red wine accomplishments, is often, unfairly, left out of the discussion when it comes to top-end white wines. Gerin’s two Condrieus are consistently excellent and, in recent years, have taken a turn to a more elegant profile. In the late 2000s I sometimes found the Condrieu style here a bit heavy for my taste but that’s not the case today. In fact, I now often find Gerin competing with some of the big guns of the appellation for sheer quality, with his 2016 a good example.
