Bernard Gros’s 2011s showed quite a bit better from bottle than they did when I tasted them from tank in November 2012, about a month after they had been racked into steel, always a tricky time to look at wines. The 2011s spent 3-3.5 weeks on the skins. As always, the wines were concentrated about 5-10%, one of the signatures of a house style that seeks texture and silkiness. Structurally, the 2011s are medium in body. I did not detect any green notes. All of the wines from the Vosne-Romanée on up were aged in 100% new oak. Yields were down 30% across the board.
