Jean-Pierre de Smet told me that while the 2001s are good, they are not nearly as good as the 2000s, which he deemed as "exceptional". None of these wines were filtered but they were fined. The Nuits "Cuvee Jeunes Vignes" is actually young vine fruit from Clos de l'Arlot that has been declassified to villages level wine. I had the opportunity to retaste the 2000s and I was shocked to see how much weight and depth they had added in one year and thus they are included again here as I clearly underestimated their potential when I first tasted them in October of 2001. I commented on this to de Smet and he, perhaps charitably, attributed it to the 2000s having shut down after the bottling; either way, they deserve a second look. Chateau and Estate Wine Company for most states; Chambers and Chambers, California; Burgundy Wine Company, NY; Jeroboam Imports, NY and Le Serbet/Becky Wasserman Selection, Massachusetts).
