There is plenty to like in this set of new releases from Carlone, although readers will want to focus on the top wines given the challenges of the 2022 harvest. One of the most distinctive attributes of this small estate is the presence of as many as a dozen Nebbiolo clones. The best of these (Picotener, Chiavennasca, 423 and 308) are vinified and aged separately for the Boca Adele, the estate's top wine. Carlone favors later harvests than some of his peers, which naturally lends a certain textural richness to these highly expressive reds. Wines are fermented in steel with long macerations.
