If there’s a winery that represents contemporary wine in San Rafael, it’s Bodegas Bianchi. Established in the late 1920s by Enzo Bianchi, an Italian immigrant and oenologist, today, the house is owned by the fourth generation of the family; however, everyday operations are delegated to a professional board of directors. Bodegas Bianchi harvest from their own vineyards, which include Asti, a plot that has been productive since the 1950s, and others in the higher section of the oasis where the soils are stony and alluvial. In the 1990s, the house made a successful move into sparkling wines, first for the local market followed by an export model. Lines such as Enzo Bianchi, Particular and Famiglia Bianchi are the result of this process. Since 2018, under the experienced eye of Silvio Alberto, they have run a second winery called Enzo Bianchi in Los Chacayes, Uco Valley, which has focused on the development of a flagship portfolio, the IV Generación line. The house is currently engaged in the production of an organic wine range.
