This extensive range from Beringer is full of highlights, with one or two wines that might have been more convincing. A bevy of single-vineyard Cabernets form the core of the range, and it is precisely these wines that show another step in the search for greater freshness and energy that culminates in a fabulous edition of the flagship Private Reserve that avoids the heaviness of some recent vintages. My only real quibble is with the Knights Valley Cabernets, which seem to have become more fruity and less expressive of place. Overall, though, there is plenty to like in this lineup from Beringer and Chief Winemaker Mark Beringer.
