Morgan Twain-Peterson has extended his obsession with field-blends from old vines into white wines, and has also bottled three different renditions of Hudson vineyard syrah in 2008. "It's easy to get carried away," he admitted, "especially when you find some crazy old vineyard that hasn't ever been messed with. I know that there's a limit to how much I can do as a small producer but there's so much cool stuff out there." The 2009 Ode to Lulu rose, which is made from extremely old mourvedre vines, was once again one of the pink highlights of my trip and should be snapped up by anyone who's into serious, deep roses that can handle red meats.
