As we were tasting the current vintage in the circular restaurant and tasting room that his father built in 2006, Thomas Schmelz stated rather clearly that he believes that 2013 is the best vintage at his family’s estate in the past decade. I would agree. The wines were always well made but they are now beginning to show more character.
