2013 Sauvignon Blanc Therese

Although they started with only four hectares of vineyards in 1984, the estate of Walter and Eric Polz is today not only one of the largest but also one of the best-known in all of Styria, including a hotel, a restaurant and a number of labels like Tscheppe that they have purchased over the years. Since 2011, Eric’s son Christoph has taken over responsibility for the cellar. Born in 1986, the same year as Armin Tement and Michael Gross, he has introduced some laudable changes that are only now beginning to bear fruit. The house style was always soft, commercial and easily approachable. But the introduction of wild-yeast fermentations, among other new techniques, has brought forth a number of wines with more tension and depth than in years past.
