I found the portfolio from Vigna Traverso to be a pleasure to taste through. However, one thing that stood out was that wine lovers can find a lot of pleasure and value here without buying up to the prestige-level Sottocastello Rosso and Troj, which will appeal more to consumers that are looking for power, extroverted fruit and oak influence. For my tastes, the Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Ribolla Gialla are beautiful wines that speak more of pure varietal character and balance than winemaking. That said, there’s a little of something for everyone in this portfolio.
