Vietti has done a magnificent job with their entry-level wines. I have to admit, I have a strong sentimental attachment to these wines, as I drank my way through many, many bottles during my student days in Boston. Over the last decade, Vietti has ascended into the top tier of Barolo producers, but thankfully the estate has not abandoned a commitment to affordable quality. At the upper end, the single-vineyard Barberas deliver superb quality for the money.
