Andrea Cortonesi describes 2010 as a vintage that brings together the power of 2006 and the elegance of 2007. I suppose that's as good an analogy as any. Uccelliera is distinguished for big, ample wines that are highly representative of these sites of the southern edge of Montalcino. I continue to think these wines see too much oak, something that is evident in tasting the 2013 Rosso, which is fabulous and the 2010 Brunello, which is a bit evolved. Later in the day, I tasted the estate's two 2004 Brunellos side by side. The 2004 Brunello was marked by oak, but the Riserva, which clearly had more stuffing at the outset, was tremendous.
