It was a family affair this year at Sine Qua Non, with a number of the Krankl children sitting in during various parts of my tasting. Time does fly. Manfred Krankl describes 2016 as a mild growing season, with only two days of intense heat. I personally like the style of the 2016s very much. These wines have so much depth and concentration on their own that a normal growing season provides a very nice counterbalance. I was also quite impressed with the bottled wines I tasted, all of which lived up to my expectations. As good as the Sine Qua Non wines are, the wines the Krankls are making at their sister label, Next of Kyn, are every bit as remarkable.
