Dan Standish, a sixth generation Barossan, makes some of the most expressive wines in the Barossa sourcing fruit from his family’s vineyards, which include some of Australia’s oldest vines. The winemaking is traditional, with basket presses, native yeasts and aging in used French oak barrels. Bottling is done without filtration. These are not wines for the timid, to be sure. The 2016s and 2017s here are marked, as usual, by depth and intensity, as well as vibrancy and detail.
