Evening Land is one of the most fascinating properties in Santa Barbara County. Located in the western corner of the Santa Rita Hills appellation, these vineyards are planted with tight spacing using California heritage clones exclusively. The wines I have tasted over the last few years have been very promising. Winemaker Sashi Moorman brought in the Evening Land Pinots before the crippling heat spikes of late September, but adds that luck played a big role in the overall quality of the fruit, as the heat spike turned out to be far lengthier than originally predicted.
