The new releases from Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro show the push toward purity and varietal character that this estate has been striving for over recent vintages. The Syrah Rosso puts on no airs and impresses with its “drink-me-now, yet enjoy me to the fullest” character, all while maintaining fantastic complexity. Meanwhile, the Bosco displays notable depth, lift and poise. It could easily excel through medium-term cellaring but provides plenty of pleasure today. Of note, the Migliara was not bottled in 2019. Winemaker Filippo Calabresi explained, “The lots coming from the Cipressi vineyard [called “Migliara”] weren’t special/different enough as in other years to merit being bottled as a single vineyard.” As a result, the juice from the 2019 went into the Syrah Bosco.
