Casey McClellan emphasized that it was critical be “aggressive with water” in 2015 to keep the vines healthy” or the fruit “could suffer undue desiccation.” Today he considers his 2015s to be fully ripe wines with ripe tannins and very good balance but he added that “without enough water, all bets were off.”

Two thousand sixteen and seventeen were “more normal vintages, with early heat and late-season slowdowns,” he went on, and he added much less acidity than in the previous two years. He considers the ‘16s to be “relatively full and firm wines” and finds the ‘17s “lush and expressive, with less obvious structure than the ‘16s.”
