The organic and biodynamic wine venture of filmmaker Michael Seresin has long provided textural, restrained styles of Marlborough. The whites are typically nuanced and layered thanks to wild fermentation, in old barrel and extended lees time. The Pinot Noirs, on the richer soils of Marlborough's Omaka Valley, tend to offer a denser, more structured approach to the region's Pinot Noirs. Tasting a few older vintages this year shows that Pinot Noir ages well here. The 2016 Sun & Moon cuvée is absolutely killing it right now. If you can find somewhere to lay your hands on it, you’ll experience a perfectly mature, satisfying Pinot Noir. There’s also an experimental/lo-fi range within the portfolio, Beautiful Chaos. These 2023s are better than they’ve been, with open, fresh fruit, but they’re rather fragile. The natural wine community will love them, however.
