Those who have been following my writing for a long time will already know that I have been following Thibaut Marion since he resurrected the Seguin-Manuel winery, situated just behind Albert Bichot’s winery in Beaune. He kindly sacrificed a Saturday morning to guide me through his 2018 whites and reds. "I started picking on 31 August and finished 10 day after," he explained. "I think it’s a great vintage. What is amazing is that we had high yields in Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, which kept freshness in the wines. For the reds, the yields were normal and slightly lower than the 2017. My fear was that I would make a 2003 but the balance is there and though the are full-bodied, they are approachable but should age really well."
