So far I have only tasted three of Schrader's 2012 Cabernets, but we will be adding more notes to the database shortly. The CCS and RBS To Kalon Cabernets are both terrific, while the Las Piedras Cabernet, which is relatively new in the range, appears to still be a work in progress. For all of their obvious richness and intensity, these 2012s are much more refined in style than the Schraders are often given credit for. I also tasted the new Boars View Pinot Noir, the Schraders' new Sonoma Coast Pinot project. That wine will be reviewed in our upcoming Sonoma article. The best way to buy these wines is through the mailing list, which probably has a huge waiting list at this point, but the last three vintages have been relatively generous, so hopefully a few more people will be able to taste the wines than in the past. To their credit, Fred and Carol Schrader have kept their mailing list prices very fair by Napa Valley standards. As always, Thomas Rivers Brown makes the wines.
