I was quite impressed with these new releases from Red Car. Winemaker Tanner Scheer has succeeded in adding that extra bit of mid-palate pliancy that was missing in prior years, when the wines from these cool, coastal West Sonoma sites were often too austere. The result is Chardonnays and Syrahs that are full of character, and a Cabernet Sauvignon that is incredibly distinctive. My tastings were not especially well timed for Pinot Noir, but I hope to catch up with the latest releases in the near future.
