This year I had a chance to taste a pretty broad range of Champagne with Charles Philipponnat over the course of two visits. What impressed me most was the consistency of the wines across the entire range. As recently as a few years ago, that was not the case. Of course, Clos des Goisses remains the flagship, but there are plenty of intriguing Champagnes in this range, from the entry-level offerings all the way up to the newer, small production bottlings Philipponnat has added recently.
