There are plenty of highlights in the 2016s from Mike and Leah Smith's Myriad label. The Three Twins Cabernet is absolutely gorgeous, as is the top selection from Georges III and the wine from Steltzner. Readers will also want to be on the lookout for a new Cabernet from Round Pond, one of Napa Valley's most intriguing vineyard sites. Over the years, the Smiths have put together a truly enviable collection of vineyard sites. That pedigree comes through loud and clear. As always, the Myriad Cabernets are distinguished by their textural lushness. A preference for Darnajou barrels, which are known for their ability to bring out sweetness and richness, adds to the wines' overt, flamboyant personalities. Unfortunately, I only tasted Cabernets on my most recent visit, as the Smiths preferred not to show their Syrahs, which are usually among my favorite Myriad wines.

Mike Smith proves his versatility with both Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon in this lineup from Myriad. There are plenty of highlights in this range. Unfortunately yields are down around 50% across the board.
