2023 Pinot Noir Gran Reserva Selección de Viñedos

Morandé was established by the oenologist Pablo Morandé in 1996. A restless spirit, he has turned the house into a group of wineries that explore different styles, markets, terroirs and winemaking methods, encompassing as many possibilities as Chile has to offer. They have vineyards in Casablanca, Cachapoal, Maipo and Maule. For the 2022 harvest, they opened a winery for flagship wines in Pelequén, right next to the historic winery, equipped with all the winemaking tools a creative oenologist could ask for.

The winemaking team, overseen by the talented Ricardo Baettig, produces a modern range of wines such as Aventura, where a terroir-focused approach makes the best of País and Mediterranean varieties. Partially fixated on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, they have developed a range of coastal and inland wines that contrast the cool climates of Casablanca and Malleco, bottled as the Black Series. In addition to searching for a coastal character in Casablanca, the team released Casatinta, a coastal red blend with a new perspective on what the region can offer. In the last two vintages, they have also refined their Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère style, aiming for a leaner, more fruit-forward profile and moving away from the typically indulgent Chilean character.
