After having appreciated the very good job they did in the infinitely more difficult 2006 vintage, I was expecting 2007 to be a return to old heights for Dr. Carl von Schubert and his winemaker Stefan Kraml. However, although the average quality was high the pair was not able to polish their spatlese and auslese offers into something as resplendent as I had hoped. Dr. von Schubert describes 2007 as "an extremely delicate and finely nuanced vintage," but the renaissance will have to wait another year.
