Molino has always excelled with supple, pliant Barolos. Over the last few years, the wines seem to have become even more fruit-forward and juicy, something I personally have mixed feelings about. On the plus side, the wines generally drink well upon release, which makes them good choices for restaurants or other situations where cellaring is not an option. On the other hand, much of the nobility and complexity that is an inherent part of what makes Barolo such a compelling wine is being sacrificed in the process. In addition to these wines, I also tasted the Vigna Gallinotto, which I found excessively green and lacking in complexity.
