I was quite impressed and actually quite a bit surprised by the vibrancy and elegance of this domaine’s 2017s and 2016s, especially given the ripeness and power of those two vintages. While there have been some noteworthy wines here over the last decade, I’ve often found the output here to favor rusticity, structure and brawn over energy, much less finesse. That was decidedly, and happily, not the case this go-round. Here’s hoping that the 2017s and 2016s are a bellwether for similar wines in coming vintages.
