I have had many memorable tastings at Martinelli over the years, but I can't think of a complete set of wines on a par with what I tasted this year. The 2016 Pinots and Zinfandels in particular are absolutely brilliant for their precision and nuance. As always, the Martinelli wines are quite bold in their expression of fruit, but the 2016s also show quite a bit of freshness. The 2015 Syrahs and Chardonnays, from the earliest vintage ever at Martinelli, are also terrific. Sadly, yields are down 35-45% across the board.
