The Martinelli family has a growing collection of wines, now that their numerous new plantings, especially of pinot noir, are bearing fruit. Julie Martinelli noted that the first vintage for pinot noir here was 1993, and that today the Martinellis make more pinot than chardonnay. The Martinellis have very good sets of chardonnay and pinot noir in 2000, but I was somewhat put off by a cooked aspect in the high-octane zinfandels. Fans of sheer size - and the wines are certainly huge and thick - will rate these wines higher than I did.
