2018 Calto

Stefano Campedelli continues on his quest to bring a new level of purity to his lineup of Valpolicella wines and IGTs. This can be witnessed in the 2019 Amarone and 2016 Riserva –two fantastic wines where Campedelli managed to capture a certain magic in both bottlings. The Marion winery and its contiguous vineyards are located in Marcellise, outside the Classico zone, on the hills east of Verona. The style is one of elegance, yet with a purity of fruit and savory edginess that adds a dynamic character that makes these wines both enjoy at or away from the dinner table. Marion also excels with its IGTs, Cabernet Sauvignon and Teroldego. Most readers won’t think of sourcing Teroldego from the Veneto, yet this is one of the most exciting wines from the region that I taste year after year.
