With his partner, Canadian banker Maury Tawse, who also owns Tawse Winery in Ontario, winemaker Pascal Marchand is now producing an impressive array of both red and white Burgundies. Marchand describes the 2013s as "frank, fruity wines with good body and riper fruit than the 2008s." In comparison, the 2012s are "great, the best vintage I've seen for concentration and balance." Marchand did much less whole-cluster vinification for most of his wines in 2013 than in 2012, although he still vinified a few with 100% of their stems. He is also cutting back on use of new oak: the grand crus are no longer aged in all new barrels and the premier crus get about 30% new oak. As of 2013, Marchand-Tawse owned only a tiny parcel in Musigny but they recently purchased vineyards in Beaune Teurons and Beaune Tuvilains.
