Winemaker Chris Carpenter's Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignons are essays into the unique personalities of four of Napa Valley's most distinctive mountain appellations. In keeping with the style of the year, the 2012s are racy and incredibly expressive, which is sure to win them many fans. As good as the 2012s are, I found more visceral thrill and overall energy in many of the 2011s here. In my view, 2011 is the more interesting of the two Lokoya vintages readers are likely to find in the market today. For more perspective, readers might enjoy this short video I shot with Carpenter during the 2014 harvest.
