I met with winemaker and proprietor Samantha O’Keefe at my hotel on the final day of my trip to South Africa. The isolation of her estate in Greyton means that it’s logistically easier for her to come to Stellenbosch. However, I am overdue for a return, especially since her wines are achieving this level of quality. After the wildfires of 2019, she is finally beginning to use the first fruit from replanted vines. Every wine I tasted is worth seeking out, though the 2023 Chardonnay Reserve, 2023 Viognier Estate Reserve and 2022 Syrah Estate Reserve are sensational.
