In addition to the world-class Chardonnays and Pinots Tommy Fogarty and Nathan Kandler make under the Fogarty label, they also excel with gorgeous Bordeaux-inspired reds at Lexington. The bottled 2013s have all come in at the top of my projected ranges from barrel, which is great news. Fogarty and Kanzler have decided to stop working with Malbec. These are gorgeous, sumptuous wines that are made in a riper, more overt, fruit-driven style than it is typical of the Fogarty range.

Lexington Wine Co. is Thomas Fogarty's Bordeaux-variety property in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The wines are made with native fermentations. New oak is only used in the Cabernet Sauvignon and Apex, while the other wines only see neutral oak. Proprietor Tommy Fogarty and winemaker Nathan Kandler are still getting a handle on this site, but the best of these 2013s are promising. I tasted all of the wines from tank just prior to bottling.
