Quality at Le Vigne di Zamò has been all over the place in recent years. For that reason, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of most of the 2014s I tasted, as they are about average for the vintage, which is a step up relative to the past. Hopefully, this estate, one of Friuli's most historic, is turning the corner. Le Vigne di Zamò is now half-owned by Eataly mastermind Oscar Farinetti, so that may explain what appears to be a slight uptick in quality. I also tasted a number of Zamò's reserve wines. As readers will see, those wines are inconsistent. Friuli desperately needs for its most visible estates to lead with quality. Also Tasted: 2010 Friulano 50 Anni, 2007 Rosso Rossetti, 2014 Pinot Grigio, 2014 Ribolla, 2011 Merlot Vigne 50 Anni, 2010 Malvasia, 2007 Schioppettino
