The 2003 and 2004 vintages here have more in common than one might expect from the vintage charts. As hot as the earlier vintage was, winemaker Bruno Gaspard managed to produce Chateauneufs that are strikingly fresh and lively. If I had tasted these wines blind, I would never have guessed they were from a freakishly hot growing season. The emphasis here has always been on purity and balance, and these traits characterize the 2004s, which are fabulously rich and expressive.(A Peter Vezan Selection; imported by North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; Import!
